DESCRIPTION:INTRODUCTION TO MONOTYPE (4-WEEK COURSE)\n\nJanuary 16\, 2024 @ 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm\n\n$135.00   $165.00\n \n\nIn this four-week course (January 16\, 23\, 30\, February 6)\, students will learn how to make a variety of monotype prints. Approaches covered include single and multi-layered monotypes\, water-based monotypes\, transfer prints\, collage and Chine-coll \, as well as mixed-media methods. Students will learn how to properly prepare an image using oil and water-based media\, how to prepare a press for printing\, and how to work in a green (non-toxic) print shop. The course will culminate in a print exchange and a portfolio of several monotypes. This class is ideal for beginners or intermediate printmakers. It's also a great class for painters who are looking to expand their skill set\; monotypes are the bridge between painting and printmaking. No prior knowledge of printmaking is required. \n\nAbout the instructor: Annika Earley makes drawings and prints about transformation\, in-between states\, and the experience of being a woman and parent. Born and raised near Basel\, Switzerland\, she often uses Swiss and German folktales as reference points in her work.\n\nEarley holds an MFA from Maine College of Art & Design and an M.Phil from College of the Atlantic. She has been a resident at the Ellis-Beauregard Foundation in Rockland\, ME\, Hewnoaks Artist Colony in Lovell\, ME\, Monson Arts in Monson\, ME\, Pace House Residency in Stonington\, ME and will be in residence at the Walkaway House in North Adams\, MA in Summer 2023 and at the Burren College of Art in Ballyvaughan\, Ireland in Spring 2024. She has been supported by the St. Botolph Foundation in Boston\, MA\, the New York Foundation for the Arts\, The Albert K\, Murray Fund\, and SPACE Gallery's American Rescue Plan Grant.
