The First Church in Belfast, August 2, 2023, 7pm
The world-renowned Cassatt String Quartet performs as the longtime ensemble of the Seal Bay Festival of American Chamber Music.
4:30-5:30pm - free, Artists’ Colloquium, discussion between composers and audience on creativity throughout the arts.
7:00-8:30pm - Concert with Cassatt String Quartet, with composers introducing their works.
8:30-9:00pm - public reception
Founded in 1994, the Seal Bay Festival fosters the relationship between contemporary American composers, performers and audiences. At SBF’s annual Composer Institute on Vinalhaven, world-renowned composers Chen Yi, Zhou Long, and others are mentors to young composers as their careers begin. After days of workshop rehearsals, the Cassatts’ concert series, from Belfast to Portland, premieres music by these composers who introduce their works.
