Maine Film Screening: True North Legends of Dogs and Men

Colonial Theatre proudly presents Maine filmmaker Jeremy T. Grant’s newest documentary, ‘True North Legends of Dogs and Men,’ for a 7 p.m. screening on Saturday, March 19. Outdoor filmmaker Jeremy T. Grant, who produces high-energy films featuring Maine’s many rugged landscapes, including our northernmost counties for this movie. ‘True North…’ was made with musher Jonathan Hayes over the span of an entire week last winter. Both the 280-mile trek, and the documentary surrounding it, was created as a dedication to the storied sled dog, Togo, whose team completed the ‘1925 Nome Serum Run,’ to save a remote Alaskan village from an epidemic of diphtheria. There is a planned post-screening discussion about the film and Maine’s deep origins in the world of dogsledding. *When not eating or drinking, mask-wearing is recommended.
