(Online) Engaging Your Critical Thinking Skills

Given the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, upcoming elections and social uprisings, the ability to communicate rationally and clearly is more important than ever. Critical thinking skills can help! This online professional development program can help ALL of us learn to connect with each other through rational thought, diffusing emotions and learning to discern facts from opinions. This online professional development workshop consists of two meetings where we will learn and practice every aspect of critical thinking in a fun and supportive atmosphere. On the first day, we’ll learn about each element of critical thinking and practice them with each other. In the second meeting, we’ll dive deeper into each aspect and combine them into your own complete, customized toolkit. During the time in between classes, you’ll be given some fun activities to do on your own. Instructor: Terry Porter, Ph.D. Terry Porter is Associate Professor Emerita at the University of Maine, where she taught business strategy and sustainability in the Maine Business School for 13 years. Dr. Porter also holds an MA in Clinical Psychology and is a certified mental health counselor. She has over thirty years’ experience as a teacher, counselor, coach, guide and facilitator.
