HIRING CIVIL ENGINEER or INTERN - 2026

Join us! Four-person site/civil engineering consulting firm, Terra Firma Professional Engineering, LLC, located on the harbor in Belfast, Maine, seeks qualified applicants for a full-time civil engineer or intern position starting immediately. 

Our fields of expertise include:

• Commercial + Residential Site Plans 

• Grading + Drainage Design

• Roadway + Utility Plans 

• Local, State, Federal Permits

• Dock Permitting

• Shoreline Stabilization, Design + Permitting

• Land Use Consulting + Strategy 
   

The ideal candidate will possess the following minimum skill set:

• Fluency with Autodesk Civil 3D design software, mandatory

• Fluency with Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel and email

• Familiarity with GIS software (Global Mapper) and hydrology modeling software (HydroCAD) a plus;

• Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) or Professional Engineer License (PE) a plus.
   

Must be willing to work both in an office environment and outdoors during all types of weather. Our office is in a spectacular location with terrific people on Belfast Harbor and our job sites are located throughout Maine, with a focus on Coastal Waldo, Knox, and Hancock Counties. Moderate physical activity should be expected during field work, which typically consists of measurements, site investigations, and construction site inspections. Office work will involve Autodesk Civil 3D drafting and design, site grading, roadway layout and grading, and utility design, permit application preparation, exhibit creation, letter writing, and communications with multi-disciplinary team members and clients. Driver’s license and own transportation to and from office or job site is required.
